Membrane Filtration

As a leading provider of membrane technology to the dairy industry, APV is proud to sustain its reputation of pioneer in innovative dairy filtration applications and engineering solutions.  With more than 1100 references worldwide, and as a result of a long-term close cooperation with manufacturers of membranes and of cleaning solutions, APV offers a wide range of membrane filtration systems featuring:

APV membrane filtration systems are innovative, cost effective and eco friendly separation solutions, ranging from stand alone units to fully automated systems including pre- and post treatment for a complete integration in our customer processing lines.

Membrane filtration processes are generally characterized by their capability of separating molecules and particles of different sizes.  The core element is an intervening structure, separating the liquid into two compartments. This structure, called a membrane, acts as an active or passive barrier to the transport of matter from one compartment to the other.

Reverse Osmosis processes are based on a very dense membrane, rejecting virtually all soluble substances except water.

Nanonfiltration processes are a special version of Reverse Osmosis in which the membrane is slightly more open in structure allowing mainly small and mon-charged ions like sodium and chloride to pass, and rejecting larger and poly-charged ions and most organic components.  In Ultrafiltration processes, the membrane is more open in structure and typically allows salts, sugars, organic acids and smaller peptides to pass while proteins, fat and polysaccharides are rejected.

Finally, Microfiltration processes are based on a membrane with a very open structure allowing most dissolved substances to pass, while non dissolved particles, bacteria and fat globules are rejected.
